Glasgow the capital city of Scotland has the best amazing shopping destinations in Scotland. If you have a passion for fashion then it can prove worthwhile making a trip to Glasgow. The second largest city in Scotland, it is the country’s shopping capital, as well as being the second largest shopping centre in the UK, after London. And as the experts say, if you can’t find what you’re looking for in Glasgow, then you won’t find it at all!

Due to its popularity, people from across the globe flock to the city every year with the sole purpose of indulging their shopping desires. With most of the main shopping areas pedestrianized, it is easy to navigate your way around the different locations, and you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to go and what to buy.

If high street heaven is what you’re after, then Sauchiehall Street, Buchanan Street and Argyll Street are the places to explore. Ranging from low-cost fashion to high-end designers, it offers the shopper the best in big name brands and high street stores. And with the choice on offer, all fashion tastes are catered for.

Within this area, there are also two major shopping centers to peruse: the Buchanan Galleries, and the St Enoch Centre. Both offer up a wealth of choice from the high street, as well as cafés and a food court to relax in after a few hours of hard shopping.

For something a little different, the Italian Centre in the Merchant City, which lies at the heart of Glasgow, is a definite must see. Housing a range of exclusive boutiques and exquisite cafés, it is also possible to soak up the surrounding, noteworthy architecture. The Princes Square shopping centre is another great place to visit and presents an alternative to the high street stores.

What’s more, the West End is also a brilliant shopping location and offers the visitor a unique variety of shops and boutiques to browse around. Of particular note are Byres Road and Kelvin Bridge, where there can be found an unusual range of handmade crafts, vintage clothing and beautiful jewellery.

To experience the true spirit of Glasgow however, you have to head to one of the many markets scattered around the city. Both the Barras and Blochairn are worth visiting, and are one of the best ways to experience the city and its inhabitants in all their glory!

Of course, with the prospect of so much shopping it is good to know that many of the Glasgow hotels are situated in, or near the main areas. Therefore, you can be sure you have the potential to be located as close as possible to the shops, which can only be a good thing. And this is especially true if there is the possibility of having a lot of bags to carry home!
